Austro-Italian war of 1848-49. - war against Austrian rule in Italy, which began in European revolution of 1848. Carl Albert - King of the Kingdom of Sardinia (1831-49) would like unite Italy under the hegemony of Piedmont and sparked an uprising in the Italian land against the Austrians.
After the Austrians were driven out of Lombardy and Venice, Carl Albert declared war on Austria. He was joined by the Papal States and the Kingdom of the Two Sicilies. Piedmontese army (60 000 people) dealt a blow in the direction of Verona. Austrians have held a series of successful counter-offensives, and Carl was forced to sign a truce by which to Austria again retreated Lombardy, Sardinia and Austria had to pay a contribution of 65 million francs. Carl Albert in the unilaterally broke the truce, but the Piedmontese army (80,000 soldiers) was ill prepared and suffered a crushing defeat.
On an officer a long dark-blue Tunic with white cuffs and collar. Epaulettes and buttons - silver. Trousers with white stripes tucked into high boots. On the white waist belt with gold-plated badge a silver cross. Red shako trimmed along the bottom edge of a black skin, and on top - silver braid. Buttonhole and round pompom silver, badge green-white-red. Over the left shoulder wearing a red cloth roll, and from the right - blue officer's scarf with tassels. Sword with a gilded hilt in black scabbard.
